Hello, my name is John Rodríguez, I live in the city of Puebla in Mexico, and I work as a graphic designer in an advertising agency.
How long have you been drawing or illustrating?
I started illustrating 4 years ago, drawing animals like an axolotl.
When did you feel like you discovered your style? How did it happen?
I feel like my style is still changing and developing every day depending on what I want to communicate.
How can you describe your style?
I think my style is cartoonish and textured illustrations, mostly characters inspired by animals and plants.
Who or what inspires you to illustrate? Music? Books? Please list.
in general, I am inspired by nature, animals, plants, and also objects around me, sometimes I can start to draw with a single random word as inspiration.
Describe your creative process in several steps.
Start with a word or topic. I think of things related to that topic or word to have more material to imagine. I make very quick little sketches from which I choose my favorite. I choose the base colors and begin to shape the illustration.
Which tools do you use to illustrate? Which one do you use the most?
I usually do everything in Procreate and sometimes I use Photoshop

Just start doing it

I hope to continue improving my illustration and be able to collaborate in the publishing and advertising world with my illustrations.
